The theme of this year’s November Roadshow was “The Lost Industries of Smethwick”.

Sadly there are too many of them.

There were show boards depicting many of the lost factories & names Like GKN, Birmid, M&B etc.

We held a small but enthusiastic Birmid Apprentices Reunion, featuring Old Boys from as far afield as Cornwall, Somerset & Shropshire.

This year’s guest speaker was Pat Cowdell who re-told many interesting stories of his rise to the very top of his chosen sport.

He brought along his Lonsdale Belt which drew much admiration from many of our visitors.
