You don’t have to be able to use a computer, or understand the Internet. We will give you one to one help using birth, marriage and death records, parish records, censuses from 1841 to 1911, wills etc. Also, if one of your relatives was in the military during WW1, we may be able to find their service records, medal rolls etc.
We have access to the Internet and membership of various research sites as well as the Smethwick Telephone on film.
The workshops are held twice a month and there is a nominal charge of £4 per session (£2 for SHC Members) with tea, coffee and biscuits thrown in. Be aware the process is addictive and once started you become even more driven to find out as much as you can! You can book a session via the “Book Now” button below or simply just turn up on one of the dates listed in our Events Calendar (which is in the Activities sub-menu). The sessions run between 10.30 am to 2.30pm. If you have any questions please ring 0121 555 7278 or send an email to The Centre at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are unable to attend in person, for a minimum donation of £10 we will start and see what we can find out and mail it to you. Obviously we cannot be sure what we will find until we start the research. Just send us what details you can of your parents and grandparents, your name address and telephone number, together with your donation to The Heritage Centre and we will take it from there.
