Bill Savage lived in Cape Hill and worked at M & B, the nearby brewery giant in Smethwick. When war broke out he joined the navy and found himself on gunboats with the coastal service. Bill was part of the famous raid on St. Nazaire, in which he tragically lost his life but was awarded the Victoria Cross for his heroism. The book, by Chris Sutton, features research and photographs unavailable anywhere else. One of our best ever received books.
