Beyond My Wildest Dreams

£12.00

Smethwick man Don Evitts releases part 2 of his self-published autobiography called ‘Beyond My Wildest Dreams’.

Book 1 ‘From Copper Tops to Mop Tops’ covers Don’s life from 1948-1970 growing up and working in Smethwick.  The book contains lots of social history of the area and has been included in the Archive and Reference departments of many local libraries.

‘Beyond My Wildest Dreams’ covers the next part of Don’s life from 1971-1985. The 364 page book covers the years from working in a factory to entering the music industry.

After years of trying to get record companies and publishers interested in Don’s music without success, he suddenly had three songs released in one year and all on different record labels. One of Don’s songs made a little piece of ‘Top of the Pops’ history when it was performed on the programme on New Years Day 1976.  From song writing Don went into music management, production, publishing and record promotions. Another one of Don’s many claims to fame is that he promoted the biggest selling 12-inch record of all time.

‘Beyond My Wildest Dreams’ includes lots of humorous stories and stunts that he got up to on his journeys around the country, and the people that he met and helped promote.  As in the last book it includes a musical thread entwined throughout and marks specific events and dates.
