09 Jul Chairman’s Letter: July 2013
We are now well in to summer – what summer you may ask! It can only get better I hope.
Thank you those who attended our special Road Show at Holly Lodge College of Science last Saturday and I hope you all
enjoyed the day. I know one or two of you were disappointed that you could not have a guided tour around the school but
I am afraid there were security issues beyond our control. However, we have had a great deal of feedback which was very
complimentary. Our grand total of proceeds from the day was well over £650 and thanks go to the band of volunteers
whose hard work and research into preparing the exhibition came to fruition. We also had a cheque presented to us for
£500 from Mike Kenna Chairman of the Old Boy’s Association for which we are extremely grateful. At our next trustee
meeting we will decide how to spend the money and let you all know the outcome.
We are still looking for new trustees, particularly anyone with publicity or fundraising skills. Please Email to me at the
Centre for more details firstname.lastname@example.org
We recently have recruited a few new volunteers which has allowed us to open our Museum for more hours on Saturday
which now will be open from 11am to 3pm, the same as Thursday and Friday. This I hope will encourage more folks to visit
us on Saturday especially those who work during the week.
Some sad news I am afraid to end this letter. Bob Baldwin’s wife Margaret sadly passed away on 14th June. She had been
ill for some time but bore all the problems associated with her illness stoically, on her many visits to hospital and when bed
ridden at home she never complained. Our thoughts go out to Bob and his family at this sad time.
Best Wishes – Mary Lee
